Verdant Echoes

Come find the muddied trails
Where redwoods standing tall
Raindrops dancing gently
The tranquil, placid fall

A sanctuary of solace
Where souls find their reprieve
Amongst the emerald needled boughs
A viridescent weave

Misty tendrils weft
Between the stolid posts
Sentinels stand epoch watch
O’er forgotten coast

Beneath the shaded canopy
A haven from the sun
Come rest a while traveler
There’re tales yet unspun

By day the fog banks trundle in
The forest drinking deep
By night Sequoias sway and moan
Giants grumble in their sleep

By rolling winds and providence
The trunks stand rigid put
Beneath the hanging petrichor
Spring mushrooms underfoot

A seedling falls to far below
To struggle in the sod
The parents reaching ever higher
To brush the face of God

Hands spread wide in rapturous joy
The sun kissed crenellations
Crepuscular rays
Below the greys
Light muted ministrations

My enervated pilgrimage
To this chapel in the rain
A sojourn, a respite
A ponderous soul’s refrain

A dalliance through seasons
My truth in silhouette
I walk this earth
To find my worth
I’m here and I am wet
