I stand opposed to night’s embrace
And shine this light in sodden grace
For wanderers of nocturnal deep
I bear the light, their souls to keep
For in my soul this light resides,
A beacon steadfastly abides
In my weakness the light grows strong
And fills the void where shadows long
I’ll carry on and hold this light
By flicker’d gleam I find my sight
I’ll hold back the darkness and the gloom
‘Til daylight comes or find my doom
Amidst the trials borne ‘neath the skin
All the fear, despair we hold within
Let not the anguish find its turn
Light the wick and burn, burn, burn
